A little bit closer now...

Yippee!!

Hooray!!

We did it!!

Yay!!

We made it through our housewarming & engagement party!
About a week ago I thought there was no way we would be ready in time but we actually pulled it off. Not everything was finished like I had hoped. But we were close enough that people could come check out the new digs and I didn't feel super weird about it. I wouldn't say I'm a private person but I really dislike when people come over and my house is a hot mess. This time it wasn't! Maybe it had to do with 3+ days in a row of staying up until 4 in the morning or later. I mean, maybe, that could have had something to do with it.

SO without further ado - The Casa!

(FYI: You guys can all thank Alex for the pictures. She called from Seattle and reminded me to start clicking. It had totally slipped my mind!)

First Up : Our Room
This is the before

And after!

As you can tell we still have some work to do but it's coming together. I love how the color turned out. Thank you thank you to Kelly who re-painted the room for us after the first attempt didn't work out.

The Bathroom : We call this the problem child of our house. If you want to see the story of the bathroom follow this link : Home Sweet Disaster Zone

 Ta Da!!!

Please notice the classy decorations & the lava lamp lol! I had never had a lava lamp before & when Justin brought it over I watched it for 20 minutes. Going:
What's it going to do?
Will they bounce into each other?
Are they going to split?
What happens when it hits the top?
What happens when this one hits that one?
Oh My Goodness! SO COOL!!!!

I'm super pleased with how the bathroom turned out.

There are gnomes hidden all over our house. Like this soap gnome on a rope in the shower.

The Guest Room: Where all are welcome.
Boring Before

Super awesome after!

This room is a collaboration of things Justin and I have collected over the years. (ok, it's mostly my stuff).
The 2 paintings came from Seattle.
Ron picked up the school desk in Houghton Lake for me.
The bed is actually my day bed from high school.
Mom gave us the quilt.
The curtains are from Justins bedroom at his parents house.

I made the mobile.
Mom got us the beautiful dresser in Saginaw.
and so on...

My grandpa made this lamp when he was younger. :)
It's such a cozy little room.
You're all welcome anytime.

"Formal" Living Room:
Before

After: With people even!

I still want to pick up a cushion for the shorter bench so you can sit on it while you put your shoes on. Oh, and we painted the front entry way an orange creamsicle color.

Entry way: still need to put the flooring down.

Dining Room: Pre-Awesome
Well I can't totally say that. The chandelier is the first thing that made me fall in love with this house.

Post: Extra-Awesome
LOL the angle of this picture makes the table look really small but it fits nicely, I swear!

The Office: Dunder-Mifflin

Just kidding! It's not done yet. But here's the entry way.

The Queen Bee Kitchen: Before it was a castle

After:
I love love love my kitchen!! I can't say enough words about how perfect it is. :)

it's so functional, and spacious, and pretty.

As I was taking pictures I looked outside and the boys were assembling (what I thought at the time was a bowl chair) a fire pit! Thanks again Dan & Kristen!

Let's see what else is going on.

Bag-o! With cousin Carrie! & her guests.

And Johnathan (Alex, look!). Crazy story. When I lived in Seattle I worked with a lovely and fun girl named Alex. We got to talking one day and she said "My brother lives in Gaylord!" and I'm like "no he doesn't!?" and she said "no, really! he does!!".
Turns out he really does! And he and his lady friend, Elizabeth, are super fun. Elizabeth and I even work right next door to each other. Small world!

These are our no parking flamingos.

Elle, Colleen & Carla
Or - Niece, Mom & Mom :)

Matt being a grilling rock star!

Alright - On to the basement!
aka - Man Cave
aka - Community Living Space

Before:

After:

I don't know why these pictures turned out dusty looking but oh well.
Drums!! You can bet your buttons that by the time the drum set was assembled we did no more work for the night.

Pool table & bar.

Looking from the old utility room into the carpeted living room.

We still need to put up art and do a bit more decorating but hey, it's a start.

More Bag-O LOL

So there you have it! The Casa! In it's almost completed glory.
Thank you to everyone that came out and enjoyed our new home with us. It was so great to have friends and family there. :)
